-
the strong noun paradigms for stān, scip, word, giefu, and lār (M&R §§33–34, 47–48);
-
nominal declension patterns: in noun phrases containing two or more of the parts of speech demonstrative pronoun, adjective, and noun, you should be able to give case and number (e.g. þone tilan cyning: accusative singular; hālgum trēowum: dative plural; þǣre lāre: genitive singular or dative singular). You won't have to translate these phrases, or even give me their gender (hint: to get this exercise right, the most important thing is that you know the declension of se (§16) really well);
-
pp. 1–2 of the vocabulary flashcards (the pages starting mann and þurh).
Note:
-
to recognize nominal declension patterns, knowing the demonstrative pronouns se and þes is key;
-
be prepared to write out paradigms, including length marks in þū, mē, etc. (don't worry about palatal marks over ċ and ġ);
-
when a grammatical form has two variants (e.g. hēo, hīo), you only have to produce one;
-
always study not just the information in book or slides, but relevant class notes as well.
